Love Shack

Second time just as nice!
Our second year here was just as nice as it was last year! The only difference is our kids and grandkids got to share in this incredible house with beach frontage! Enjoyed by all and plan to be back next year!

LOVED the Love Shack
This was the first of time my husband and I stayed at Crystal Beach and what a great house to stay in for our first adventure here! The house was clean, spacious, stocked well kitchen and linens. The deck access off the master bedroom and the larger deck below were perfect for early morning coffee and evening beach gazing. The direct access to the beach was wonderful, too! We will definitely plan to come back next year and stay in the exact same house!

The beachfront location is close to water ♥️. House could use some updating on top level. Bed was comfortable on top level.There were only 2 of us so we did not use 2nd story with 2 queen beds and bathroom. It needs serious overhaul, it smells like it got wet, mildew smell is overwhelming and bathroom linoleum rolled at corners. If I had more guest with me we could not have let them sleep there. There is 2 couches and a oversize chair in top level living room that make into beds. I'm not sure of comfort as we didn't use them. The deck could use a go over removing bad nails or rusted screws. There are A LOT of great things about this house,the decks and built in tiki bar on mid level is awesome. Lots of wood deck chairs. The master on top level has it's own deck looking towards Gulf. It has a cargo lift for luggage♥️. And ground level has another bar, table and fish cleaning station,foot wash at bottom of stairs and outdoor shower. We enjoyed our stay,the two of us.

Starting at receiving the key to dropping it off it was the most painless easy and all together beautiful stay, the 3 stars are only because the garbage pick-up which was delayed due to the holiday but IMHO should have resumed the day following, not the fault of Cobb Real Estate but i think should be addressed. I and everyone in my party highly recommends Cobb and this property based on our experience while being their guest! Thanks

We had the BEST time while at Crystal Beach! The house was excellent, kitchen fully stocked with every appliance needed, linens were more than enough and the view was PERFECT! We look forward to coming back to this same home next year!

Great time and enjoyed. Liked the fact they had two separate facilities which made it private for just the two of us. We hoped that the rest of families would join but that wasn’t the case. Had a great time. Sitting outside for most of the time enjoying the view. Only suggestion would have more comfortable seating inside.

We stayed in the top with our littles who slept on the sofa sleepers. Grandpa and Grandma and the Aunts slept below. We enjoyed the challenge of no electricity because we arrived shortly after a big storm. It was a great Adventure!!!

we enjoyed being on the east end of peninsula it is very peaceful we arrived on Thursday and enjoyed a quite walk on beach with our dog weekends you have more traffic there but was still peaceful you must realize that the kitchen and living room and master better are on the top level that is a lot of stairs the lift was very helpful for bringing up grocery's etc. it was a large place just for two but we rented it because it was pet friendly we will come back to crystal beach area but will not stay here again because of all the steps as we are senior citizens

This was our third visit to the Love Shack. We think it is the perfect location on Bolivar Peninsula if you like to be just steps away from the beach while being able to observe the ship channel from the other side of the house. This is a comfortable rental but be aware, there are 4 flights of stairs and the last level is steep. Thankfully, there is a lift for luggage and groceries and each year we appreciate it more. This is our happy place.

We loved our home away from home so much! The beach was quiet and felt kind of private because there were no home to one side and a vacant home on the other side. We already miss it so much. The only complaint we had was the home needed sharper knives. Other than that, it was great! Would stay again if we have only a couple of families. Thanks for sharing the home and easy check in and out at Cobb!

We rented this cabin for a little get away and got just what we needed! The house was immaculate and have us everything we needed. We loved having the washer boards and horseshoes available. What was even better was our view and easy access to the beach only a few steps away. We will definitely be back again!

We just concluded our second visit to the Love Shack on Bolivar Peninsula. The property is well maintained, and quite simply, the best location on the peninsula with ocean/beach views as well as the bay and intercoastal waterway. The house comes with a lift, which is indispensable. Terrific beach access. Depending on the time of year and day of the week, you will likely be the only folks on the beach.

The property is a great getaway. There is only one neighbor and the property is screened well for privacy. The home is well stocked for cooking. I plan on returning to this house when it is available. The beach front location is stunning and the location is far enough away from the main town, but not to far of a drive. It is only 7 minutes to the big store.

We loved staying in the Love Shack! The lift is great but needed some minor repairs. The house is spacious and right on the beach. We all had a wonderful time and will definitely return to Crystal Beach and rent from Cobb Real Estate!

We spent a lovely week at the Love Shack in October 2014. This property and location provides the "on the beach" experience you hope for but are never sure you will really get. The views of the ocean as well as the bay and the intracoastal waterway are easily accessible from the well thought out decks. The beach is approximately 62 steps away, a true thrill if you enjoy walking along the shore and observing wildlife and picking up shells. The lift to tote your belongings and the secured entrance are worth the rental fee alone. Two caveats: if you read the previous reviews you'll note a pattern of problems with the mezzanine bedroom's air conditioning. It was not working during our visit. Also, unfortunately, another home is under construction next door and as another reviewer noted, it is indeed almost close enough to touch. However, no one was working on the home during our visit so we did indeed have the place to ourselves...with the exception of the weekend when fishermen showed up to fish along the shore. But they were entertaining! We would certainly consider this property for a return rental. Enjoy!

The kitchen and master bath on the highest level - upscale appliances and plenty of space! Three pull out couches that save space were comfy! The lower bedroom w two queen beds were comfortable as well. Slept great to the sound of crashing waves and an absolutely breathtaking view! RIGHT on the beach! Very private and the large party deck w lots of lounging space and bar/barstools area was great for the kids to eat outside and relaxing at night! Defiantly a 10! Would absolutely go back to this rental at the drop of a dime!

We stayed for a week in mid March. Shelling was great. Fishing and weather was not. Beach was a little busy on the weekend. The cottage is right on the beach and even on bad weather days provided an excellent spot for us to have fun. Being able to use the lift certainly was a plus because of the stairs. The main deck was our favorite hangout. Sturdy furniture and covered areas and speakers for music. There was a bbq there that we used several times. You can see the fishing canal from the cottage. The cottage was clean and we found everything we had forgot to bring with us. It has a different floorplan. Was great for 2 couples, no kids. Teens would love the privacy of the lower bedroom. Master bedroom is upstairs.

We love staying here. There is a lift and that is a tremendous help in getting all your items and bedding up the two flights. And the older I get I appreciate that convenience. Note: You CANNOT ride the lift. The house is lovely and has a great view of the beach. It is a little away from the mainstream of things but we like it like that. Would go there again. And Cobb is wonderful to deal with!

A great place to stay and relax. Very clean, comfortable, nice house layout.
The lift was excellent for getting all our "stuff" to the top floor. The deck on the second floor is large and spacious. It's also nice to have the covered area there too. it rain 2 of the days we're ther but could still be outside under cover.We would definetly rent this house again.

We were told by that fires on the beach were permitted and brought with us seasoned firewood only to learn that all fires had to be contained in a drum or otherwise suitable container such as a BBQ grill. We left the wood in a pile on the property just inside the dune. The beach was a tad crowded during the weekend with some trash left on it. Most of it was picked up Monday. We'd like to come back during the fall or at some point when the surf is more conducive for wade fishing. Overall it was a great vacation. The beach house was great......beautiful view.. There were no issues with it. Everything worked perfectly.

Stayed 6 nights with my husband, mother and 2 kids ages 6 and 2. I loved that the beach was just a walk down the stairs- especially since my 2 year old wasn't crazy about the ocean. The house was clean and actually provided alot of the things that I was told I needed to bring- laundry soap, toilot paper, cleaning supplies and other things- not sure if it was just items others may have left because they didn't want to repack but it was nice. Also added bonus was the refridgerator in the downstairs bathroom! My mother stayed in the downstairs room and she liked not having to walk upstairs to get drinks. We really enjoyed the washer set too and the chairs on the deck were awesome for nights spent just enjoying the view and breeze! When we stayed the weather was awesome- not to hot or humid until our last day when we checked out. I would love to book this house every summer! It was perfect for the 5 of us! A little far from the ferry if you are wanting some days in galveston- we went to galveston 3 days to do some things with the kids and it was a little much. Also I wasn't aware there was a grocery store on the peninsula and did grocery shopping before on the drive down- so next time I know! Overall awesome trip! Only things we noticed was that in the downstairs room the ac has a steady drip of water that might need to be fixed bed was damp when we arrived had to pull it out from the wall- and the outside lights on top deck didn't work with the exception of the patio off of master.

Love Shack afforded us a peaceful and stress free few days. Literally on the water with views from most all windows and three porches/decks. No street noise just the rolling tide. Because of the full moon the views at night were terrific too. Advertised as a 2 bathroom, it's really not. There is a large bathroom off master with shower, w/d, closet, etc. "2nd bath" is a commode and shower (sink was not connected) on the second floor which is only accessed from an outdoor stairway. This "bath" is on the 2nd floor deck area. A great feature for cleaning up after the beach or for convenience when hanging out. We only had two in our party, but if you are taking children, they will be in the master bedroom in order to go to the bathroom. Not a big deal, just good to know. Also, typical rental kitchen stuff - no wine glasses, not even plastic! FYI, living space is 3 floors up. This makes hauling luggage, groceries, and so on a big chore. If you can't handle stairs, this is not for you. Cobb was great to work with - no reason not to book this place, very comfortable!

The gulf is as close as you an get without being over the dunes. You are eight miles from the nearest store so stock up before you get there.
The middle level is great for meals with a view. The bed and sleepers were comfortable.
Our only issue was with bugs that showed up inside the house the last couple of days.

My family of five recently stayed for a week at the Love Shack and had a great time. It is right on the beach and only more or less secluded. Some days we had the beach to ourselves, other days there were families scattered around, but not like at Stuart Beach in Galveston. The house was very nice and well maintained. The beds (even the fold out) were comfortable, but there were two horrible, cheap itchy blankets tthat made my children break out in a rash, so bring a couple of extras. There were plenty of sea shells for those who like to beach comb. And a hose on the second deck to wash the sand off once you are done. When the wind was high (most days) we didn't have a mosquito problem on the second deck on up. But if there was no wind, watch out, mosquitos were attacking with a vengence. Take lots of bug spray. Overall we were very satisfied and would consider staying again.

Love Shack is away from the busy areas of the Bolivar Penninsula. Very cosy and intimate location. Be prepared to drive keeping in mind a quaint bar/restaurant is only a short few blocks east if you need it. Would have loved if the seaweed was picked up. It reduced the beach space. A wonderful deck space created a whole other living space that was well used. Great Times!
